Walking Tour of the Douro River Bank (Small Groups)

After meeting your guide at the Portuguese Photography Center, we will begin a fascinating 1.5 hour tour that will change your perception of the city and allow you to learn admirable and surprising stories about Porto.

We will start the tour at the Roman Wall and the Fernandina Wall, two ancient structures that make up the medieval belt of Porto's walls. Then we will walk to the Mirador das Virtudes, where we will enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city.

From here we will be able to see the Douro River and the famous Luis I Bridge, which we will cross later.

Our next destination will be the Palacio de la Bolsa, an impressive neoclassical building built in the 19th century. We will then cross the Luis I Bridge to reach the Ribeira and Barredo neighborhoods, two of the oldest and most picturesque districts of the city.

Here we will find narrow cobblestone streets and colorful facades of houses that will take us back in time.

Another interesting place to visit is the Old English Club, a historic building that used to be the meeting place of the English community in Porto. Today, the building houses a restaurant and is a popular venue for events and weddings.

Before ending our tour, we will make a stop at the Ferreiras Market, a traditional market where we can find fresh and local products. Here we can sample some of the culinary delights of the region.

Finally, we will visit the stunning Church of San Francisco, a Romanesque and Gothic church dating back to the 14th century. This church is known for its baroque decoration and its extraordinary facade.
